Tadic left out of friendly with knock
Southampton manager Claude Puel has confirmed that winger Dusan Tadic missed yesterday’s friendly against FC Zwolle with a slight knock.
Puel has revealed that Tadic felt a niggle in training and that he took the decision to leave the Serbian out of the clash for his own good.
Some Southampton supporters were becoming anxious yesterday when the squad was announced for the match and Tadic was not amongst the starting XI or subs. But Puel has moved quickly to allay any fears they may have had by confirming it was just a slight knock.
The Saints boss has said Tadic could feature on Wednesday in the next game or, failing that, the match on Saturday to end the tour of Holland.
Speaking to Southampton’s website, Puel said this:
I think Dušan can play in the next game.
We just took the decision to leave him for this game. He felt just something in his leg and I think for the next game, or perhaps for Saturday, no problem, he can play.
This means that Puel will have Tadic, Ryan Bertrand, Fraser Forster, Steven Davis and Shane Long to integrate into his side as the week progresses.
