Southampton holding an interest in Silva
Southampton are holding an interest in Portuguese winger Rafa Silva, according to The Express.
The report says that Everton are considering a £8m swoop for the winger, but Leicester and Southampton are both watching with a keen interest.
The report says that Braga, Silva’s current club, would be willing to part ways with him for £8m. This could be seen as a bargain by many, given the current inflation in prices in the transfer market.
Silva played 44 times last season, for both Braga and Portugal, but made just one appearance at the European Championships. Regardless, he was part of the squad – as were Saints duo Jose Fonte and Cedric Soares – and was able to enjoy the celebrations at the end to lift the trophy after beating France in the final.
The 23-year-old looks likely to leave Braga and Southampton could see him as a possible replacement for Sadio Mane, who joined Liverpool earlier this summer for £36m.
The report also says that Claude Puel is eager to bolster his midfield, with Premier League and Europa League football to cope with this season.
