According to L’Equipe, via Sport Witness, new Southampton manager Claude Puel has put the signing of Adam Nagy on hold.

The report says that Southampton were in the latter stages of negotiations to sign the promising midfielder, but Puel has now stalled the deal.

Puel has asked Southampton to postpone talks with Nagy so that he can have his sole focus on the current crop of players at the club. Puel wants to assess the situations of the players already at the club – Dusan Tadic, Graziano Pelle ect – and sort their futures out before he signs any new players for the squad.

Nagy is being chased by a number of clubs in Europe and Puel stalling the deal could lead to Southampton missing out completely.

The 21-year-old midfielder already has 11 caps for Hungary and starred in his country’s Euro 2016 campaign this summer.
