Southampton striker Shane Long is set to sign a new contract with the club, we understand.
Southampton have offered Long a new contract amidst a host of summer contract revamps by the club. Virgil Van Dijk, James Ward-Prowse, Fraser Forster and Steven Davis have all already signed new deals and we understand that Long is next in-line to commit his future to the club.
Long still has two years left on his existing Southampton contract, but the club are keen to tie him down to a new three-year contract, which would add an extra year to his current deal.

The Irish international is currently away on international duty with Ireland – at the European Championships – but could still sign before the tournament is over, just as Davis has.
We understand that Long is willing to commit his future to the club and sign a new contract, due to the faith shown in him by the club and because of the support from the fans. The deal is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Long has played 71 games for Southampton in his two seasons so far, scoring a commendable 20 goals.
The Mirror also reported last month that Southampton were considering offering him a new contract to fend off Liverpool interest.
