According to a surprise report from the Daily Mirror, newly crowned Premier League champions Leicester City are lining up a move for Arsenal star and Southampton target Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

It has been well documented over the last couple of months that, ahead of the summer, Saints have been keeping tabs on Oxlade-Chamberlain with the intentions of moving for him as they look to strengthen ahead of European football next season in the Europa League.

However, it now looks as though they face fresh competition from Claudio Ranieri’s title-winning Leicester side, who will look to build upon their simply remarkable season in their next adventure.

The England international is looking all set to leave Arsenal this summer, just five years after he joined the Gunners from, coincidentally, Southampton.

But as a result of misfortune with injuries and limited chances to play regular first-team football, Oxlade-Chamberlain may look to revitalise his career elsewhere in order to get himself back to his best.

However, if Southampton are not to pursue their interest in their former academy prodigy, there are plenty of other wingers that they have been linked with.

In the last couple of months, in the lead up to the summer’s upcoming transfer window, Newcastle’s Andros Townsend has been linked with a move to Saints, whilst Nathan Redmond of Norwich is also said to be a target for Ronald Koeman’s side.

One thing is for certain, though – if Saints are to move in for Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer, they must move quickly.
