According to The Express, Southampton are one of a number of clubs who are interested in Rennes striker Ousmane Dembele.
We knew that Southampton scouts watched Rennes play on Sunday but it was unknown as to exactly which player they were watching. It is now believed to be Dembele.
Dembele is only 18-years-old but has been a star in Rennes’ first-team this season. He has already made 17 Ligue One appearances and scored an impressive nine times in the league, three of which came in the first half of his match on Sunday.
Southampton will have to compete with teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Leicester and Barcelona if they are to land his signature. The only thing they could possibly offer him that the others can’t is game time. However, with Graziano Pelle, Shane Long and Charlie Austin, they may not even be able to offer that.
It would be a huge coup if Southampton were able to seal the deal in the summer.
