According to The Express, Southampton could be set to miss out on reported transfer target Laurent Depoitre.
Depoitre had been linked to Southampton last week, among many of Premier League sides. It is now thought that Tottenham are the firm favourites to land the Belgian’s signature in the summer.
The 27-year-old striker has burst onto the scene this season following his debut goal for Belgium in the European Championship qualifiers. This has led to clubs following his Gent form, where he has scored 13 goals this season.
He is certainly a late bloomer but looks like a very capable player. However, there will be doubts over whether or not he can make the step up from the Belgian league to playing for a club like Southampton, or even Spurs for that matter.
Depoitre was touted as a possible summer replacement for Graziano Pelle but, by the looks of it, Ronald Koeman may have to find a new target for the summer.
