Saints lining up move for Monchengladbach midfielder
According to a recent report in The Mirror, Southampton are the latest club to take a strong interest in Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Havard Nordtveit as they look to the Bundesliga to explore their potential midfield options for the summer.
The Norway international was once a youth product of the Arsenal academy, however after being released, Nordtveit made a name for himself elsewhere and has earned himself several plaudits for his impressive displays for Monchengladbach.
However, if Southampton are to secure the services of the 25-year-old, they will need to fend off interest from a number of Premier League clubs that will be looking to bring in Nordtveit in the summer. The Mirror reports that fellow top-flight trio West Ham, West Brom and Liverpool are set to go head to head with Saints in a battle for the Norwegian’s signature.
The key attraction of Nordtveit is also coming in the form of his availability in the summer, as the impressive defensive midfielder will be available on a Bosman transfer come the end of the season after choosing to seek pastures new ahead of next season.
Nordtveit appears to have been identified by the Saints as a potential replacement for controversial, ill-disciplined midfielder Victor Wanyama, who is looking increasingly likely to leave the club in the summer.
