According to Gelderlander, Southampton are one of two Premier League sides looking at Todd Kane.
The 22-year-old defender is contracted to Chelsea, but is currently out on loan in Holland at Nijmegen. This means that any move for Kane would be withheld until the summer at least, when he returns to Chelsea.
Newcastle are the other Premier League side that has been touted with interest in the young defender. Southampton are also thought to be watching Kane as they ponder a summer move for the right-back.
Southampton do have Cedric Soares, Cuco Martina and Maya Yoshida who can all play in the right-back position. Yet, Ronald Koeman could potentially be looking to add more depth to that area of the pitch.
Kane has been impressing in Holland recently but is unlikely to ever make the grade at Chelsea. This means that a permanent switch to another Premier League club could be the best option for Kane.
