Southampton are thought to be very keen on Nice midfielder Jean Seri ahead of a potential January move for the Ligue 1 star.
The 24-year-old only joined Nice in the summer but has impressed enough to catch the eye of Saints manager Ronald Koeman and engage Southampton in a transfer pursuit for the player.
After losing Morgan Schneiderlin to Manchester United in the summer Ronald Koeman needed to replace him and did sign Jordy Clasie from Feyenoord and Oriol Romeu from Chelsea. However Clasie has only just settled into the side following an injury lay-off of a few months. Romeu is yet to claim a spot in the starting line up.
This means that Koeman could still want reinforcements in the winter window and Seri could be the man that he needs to bolster his midfield options in the club’s aim for another top-eight finish in the Premier League.
