Earlier on today, telegraph.co.uk reported that Sadio Mane was the subject of interest from Manchester United.
Manchester United’s attempts to sign Pedro from FC Barcelona have hit a brick wall and it is thought that Louis Van Gaal has turned his attentions to the Senegalese international.
According to the telegraph.co.uk, Southampton have been caught off guard with a surprise inquiry from the Manchester club, who have won both of their games so far this season.
Sadio Mane was only signed by Southampton last summer for £10m from Red Bull Salzburg and scored a fairly impressive 10 goals last season. He also recorded the fastest ever Premier League hat-trick versus Aston Villa in a 6-1 drubbing of the midlands side.
In my opinion. This would be bad business for both sides. First of all, he is a key player for Southampton and with their poor start to the season and loss of key players already, they cannot afford to lose another one to the ‘big sides’.
Secondly, I don’t think it would be a good move for Mane or Manchester United. I don’t think that he is good enough to play for Manchester United ahead of the likes of Juan Mata and Memphis Depay, not to mention Ashley Young and Adnan Januzaj.
The best option for Sadio Mane right now would be to stay at Southampton and improve his game. Then, maybe, if he has another impressive season, he could be at the level for a top four side. however, for now, he should stay at Southampton and get more experience in the Premier League and, if they qualify, European football so that he can prove himself on the big stage.
